The first month of the 2017-18 academic year has been a whirlwind for dance students.
During the first weeks of class, the dancers auditioned for roles in Interlochen’s biennial performance of The Nutcracker. Once the casts were set, the dancers began rehearsing choreography for the show.
Long days of Nutcracker rehearsals have been punctuated by visits from numerous guest artists: Craig Hall, Michael Spencer Phillips, Loni Landon, Erika Randall, Kenya Clay and Tommy Neblett. The guests shared a variety of styles with the students. Hall taught ballet, while Phillips, Randall, Neblett and Landon taught modern styles. Kenya Clay, the choreographer for the new Club Mickey Mouse, taught a session on hip-hop dance.
