On Oct. 2, cello students participated in a performance and master class by Palestinian cellist Naseem Alatrash.
During the first half of the session, Alatrash performed for students, accompanied by Instructor of Cello Crispin Campbell. Afterwards, Alatrash invited the students to join him for an improvised jam session.
Alatrash is a classically trained cellist who is dedicated to representing Arabic culture through his performances, which feature traditional melodies and improvisation. A globally acclaimed performer, he has received numerous awards for his efforts to broaden the horizons of the cello.
During his visit, Alatrash also visited Interlochen Public Radio’s Studio A for a performance and interview.
