On Sept. 29, several theatre students met with members of the Interlochen Arts Academy Band in the Dennison Center for Recreation and Wellness to teach them the basics of acting.
During the session, the musicians set aside their instruments and participated in a variety of acting exercises led by their acting peers and Instructor of Theatre Arts Gulshirin Dubash.
“Musicians spend so much time taking care of their instrument's needs and technique that we often forget that we are ultimately hoping to be on stage committing to a performance for people,” said Band Conductor Dr. Matthew Schlomer. “By giving musicians this experience, we hope that they can become more engaging performers.”
Several theatre students will also perform with the band during their Oct. 21 concert.
