Interlochen Arts Academy boarding high school offers student double bassists a program of pre-professional music training and college preparatory academics. Double bass students graduate well-prepared for the rigors of study at the university and conservatory level. The double bass course of study is designed to provide for technical and musical growth according to the individual needs and abilities of each student.
The double bass major requirements include:
- Private lesson and studio participation (see below)
- Music theory and musicianship (one year)
- Appropriate ensembles
- Academic requirements
Double Bass Private Lesson and Studio
Students are to organize their practice time in order to master their assignment of scales, etudes, orchestra music and solo repertoire. Each student’s assignment will be individually determined based on the student’s experience and goals.
