The 2009 Future of Cinema Film Festival took place in May, and featured guest filmmakers Adrian Belic, Logan and Noah Miller, as well as representatives from the ARRI Group, which manufactures cameras and lighting equipment.

The 2011 Interlochen Summer Arts Festival kicked off with a live broadcast of "A Prairie Home Companion," with Garrison Keillor. The sold-out performance featured a number of guest artists, including Arts Academy students Yuri Popowycz, violin and Charles Overton, harp.
At the end of the fall semester, Interlochen welcomed renowned photographers and husband and wife duo Robert and Shana ParkeHarrison to campus. They met with students, viewed student work, provided feedback and presented their own work in front of a student assembly.
