Academy Clarinet Major

Interlochen Arts Academy boarding high school offers student clarinetists a program of pre-professional music training and college preparatory academics. Clarinet students graduate well-prepared for the rigors of study at the university and conservatory level.

The clarinet major requirements include:

Private Lesson and Studio

Develop the ability to comprehend and express musical language through the clarinet. This involves establishing healthy fundamentals of instrumental control, development of recognition of music structure, style and genres, exploring musical expression, and solo and ensemble performance skills. Students at the 9th and 10th grade levels are expected to practice a minimum of two hours per day. 11th & 12th grade levels will practice between three and four hours per day. Students are evaluated for progress during lessons, studio class performance and the semester jury. Goals for each student are carefully established according to individual skill and need.
