Dr. Bryan Conger comes to Interlochen from The Juilliard School, where he recently completed his Doctor of Musical Arts in Clarinet Performance.

Before working on his doctorate, Conger taught for two years at the John Cooper School in Houston, Texas, where he honed his skills teaching high school students. While at Juilliard, he taught music theory and analysis and English as a Second Language for undergraduate students.

Conger has performed with a wide variety of professional ensembles, including Symphony in C in New York; the Texas New Music Ensemble; and Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra in San Francisco, with which he performs on historical instruments. He has also performed on Broadway on both clarinet and saxophone.

Conger has also served as principal clarinetist and soloist with The New Juilliard Ensemble; the New York Times described his performance with the ensemble as possessing, "commanding technique, myriad colorings, and flair." He has also toured with Idina Menzel, performing on both clarinet and saxophone.
