Dane Philipsen is the Instructor of Oboe at the Interlochen Arts Academy, a position he began in the fall of 2017. During the summers, he coordinates the Interlochen Oboe Institutes and teaches at the Interlochen Arts Camps. He continues as a guest oboist and English horn player with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. In the past, he was the principal oboist of the Atlanta Opera (2009-2016) and the Artist Affiliate in Oboe at Emory University. He is a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Northwestern University’s Bienen School of Music where he studied with Scott Hostetler, and he holds degrees from Arizona State University (M.M.) with Martin Schuring and the University of Northern Iowa (B.M.) with Tom Barry.
