Emily is a native of Northern Michigan, having been born and raised in the area. She enjoyed the first year of her teaching career in Traverse City Area Public Schools. Spending the next several years teaching in both Florida and South Carolina, she taught History, English, and Reading at the middle school level. During her last two years in South Carolina, she worked as a Literacy Coach in the public school system. Earning her Master's degree in Education with an endorsement in Gifted and Talented Education, Emily treasured the years she spent teaching. Prior to coming to Interlochen, Emily most recently attended Michigan State University where she pursued her doctoral studies in Education, Curriculum, and Technology. She taught teaching methodology courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels at MSU for two years in the Department of Teacher Education. Emily is the proud mother of one son and enjoys spending time with her family camping and boating. Passionate about the arts, Emily is feeling at home at Interlochen Arts Academy, where the arts and education come alive.
