About Leah

Leah Mosher is currently an instructor of history and humanities at Interlochen Arts Academy and has been since 2018 when she relocated to her hometown and joined Interlochen Arts Academy. Before Interlochen, she was a public school teacher in Chicago and Minneapolis. Mosher was a bilingual social studies teacher and utilized the Spanish she learned while living in Guatemala and Ecuador to instruct in both Spanish and English. Mosher enjoys traveling, especially throughout Latin America, and likes to incorporate those experiences into her classroom. She often uses art, especially indigenous art and street art, to include voices and perspectives that are typically neglected in the traditional historical narrative.

I want students to leave my class with the skills to critically examine the world around them, explore their place in the world and be agents of change. We delve into relevant and crucial issues as researchers, writers, thinkers and presenters. As students of history, we must recognize the danger of a single narrative. As such, students will evaluate and integrate sources presented in multiple formats from diverse perspectives in order to make sense of the world we live in.
