Yuri Namkung is Instructor of Violin at Interlochen Arts Academy. Her diverse career includes national and international solo and chamber music performances, teaching engagements and global outreach.
Born in Seattle, Washington, she made early childhood debuts with the Northwest Chamber Orchestra, Seattle Symphony, and at the Aspen Music Festival. Major solo appearances since then have included her European debut with the Tonhalle-Zurich under the direction of David Zinman and with the Orchestra of St. Luke's in Alice Tully Hall with violinist Cho-Liang Lin.
Her piano trio, the Moet Trio, has been described as, "Separately and together, these are musicians you will want to hear repeatedly in coming years" by the San Francisco Classical Voice. Recent performances include engagements at the Kennedy Center, Gardner Museum, Jordan Hall, New School: Schneider Concert Series, and Carnegie Hall's Neighborhood Series.
Since 2008, she has regularly been invited as guest instructor and artist to participate in the National System of Youth and Children's Orchestras of Venezuela, working with El Sistema. Yuri is also Director of Classical Music for the Panama Jazz Festival through Fundacion Danilo Perez, at the invitation of jazz musician Danilo Perez.
