Academy Boarding High School: Popular Music Major

As a student majoring in Popular Music, you will work directly and collaboratively with artists, composers, songwriters, musicians, and engineers/producers to develop your skill set as a musician. You will learn key aspects of performance - from effective rehearsal and individual practice techniques, constructing lead sheets, recording/production techniques, to overall elevated skill level in effective performance techniques . In addition, you will develop critical listening skills, as well as the aesthetic, communication and organizational skills that are vital to successful performers. You will also learn the art and science of musical innovation. This pre-professional education prepares you to continue your path as a professional contemporary musician at the college level and to secure some entry-level roles in the music industry field.
