Abby Evans

Residence Hall Coordinator, Interlochen Arts Academy

Director of Recreation Programs, Interlochen Arts Camp

B.S., Park, Recreation, and Tourism Studies, Old Dominion University

Abby’s Interlochen journey began as a cabin counselor in 2012 and she has now spent six summers on the Camp Life Staff team. From her first summer, she uncovered her passion for supporting students in unique and enriching environments. This discovery and love of camp led to a shift in her degree path from music education to recreation. During her undergraduate work, she had the opportunity to research and present on camp effectiveness, the impact of outdoor orientation initiatives on resiliency, and positive youth development. She is grateful and excited to continue serving Interlochen students for her second Academy year.

In her time off, Abby enjoys exploring the gorgeous landscapes of Northern Michigan, kayaking, and journaling in coffee shops. She is fascinated by lighthouses, still feels that the snow is magical, and her love of dogs includes a strong adoration for golden retrievers.
