Courtney Kaiser-Sandler

Interlochen Arts Academy alumna Courtney Kaiser-Sandler is a professional musician and the founder of the singer-songwriter program at Interlochen Arts Academy.

Kaiser-Sandler has 15 album credits on iTunes, including four albums with her band, Kaiser Cartel, and two solo albums. Her original songs have been heard on film and television including Bored to Death, The Firm, Private Practice, and Good Morning America. She has also worked alongside high-profile artists including John Mellencamp, The Wallflowers, Sufjan Stevens, Petra Haden, Yuka Honda, and Sean Lennon.

Kaiser-Sandler earned a bachelor's degree in World Vocal Music and a master's degree in Elementary Education from Indiana University. She created music programs for the Blue School, a school founded by the Blue Man Group in New York, for Brooklyn Heights Montessori School, and has taught master classes in songwriting at the Vibe Theater in New York and Idyllwild Arts Academy.

Kaiser-Sandler believes strongly in the importance and power of arts education, as well as the importance of protecting the environment. She has been able to use her songwriting skills and world music knowledge to write songs for the non-profit organization Art of Conservation in Rwanda. The organization uses her music to teach conservation. She has written songs in both English and their native language, Kinyarwanda.
