Dane Philipsen is the Instructor of Oboe at the Interlochen Arts Academy, a position he began in the fall of 2017. During the summers, he coordinates the Interlochen Oboe Institutes and teaches at the Interlochen Arts Camps. Prior to joining the faculty at Interlochen, he was the principal oboist of the Atlanta Opera and the Artist Affiliate in Oboe at Emory University. Additionally, he has performed on both oboe and English horn with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Phoenix Symphony, Orchestra Iowa, and others. He is a candidate for the Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the Bienen School of Music of Northwestern University where he studied with Scott Hostetler. He holds degrees from Arizona State University (MM) and the University of Northern Iowa (BM).
