The postgraduate gap year program at Interlochen Arts Academy is designed for the student who desires an additional year in a high school setting to focus on greater artistic preparation before entering college, conservatory, university or art school.
Postgraduate students at Interlochen have the opportunity to complete a variety of academic classes, including Advanced Placement courses and/or courses from the Indiana University Advanced College Project. Offered on Interlochen's campus, taught by Interlochen instructors, these courses provide students the opportunity to earn up to 12 college credits in English, history, and biology. These credits be transferred to any college or university in the United States.
The remainder of students' courses are in their arts major and enable them to develop as the artists they are and hope to become.
Students have full access to all student services including the support of academic and college advisors, who work with students individually to help them achieve their college and university goals.
Postgraduate students receive a certificate of attendance upon successful completion of their year at the Interlochen Arts Academy.
