Dr. Leslie B. Dunner, Music Building highlighted in local newspaper

Interlochen Arts Academy Orchestra Conductor Dr. Leslie B. Dunner was recently featured in an article in the Traverse City Record Eagle.

Dr. Dunner, who joined the Academy faculty in late August, spoke to the newspaper about his plans for and first impressions of the Arts Academy Orchestra. Dr. Dunner’s projected repertoire includes orchestral standards, such as Mozart’s Symphony No. 29, alongside lesser-known contemporary works.

“I think it’s a great program here—I’m very impressed with the enthusiasm of students and their playing ability,” Dr. Dunner told the Record Eagle. “Every piece that we have this academic year is higher difficulty, higher complexity.”

The Record Eagle feature also highlighted Interlochen’s new Music Building, a 65,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art facility that is scheduled for completion in the spring of 2019.

The Music Building and Dr. Dunner’s appointment are cornerstones of Interlochen’s ongoing efforts to support and enhance its music program.
